The only reason I'm buying a new pair is that my old ones are small now. I would have gotten a medium, but I wanted a larger pair so I could wear several layers under it and still have some room. I wear them over my work clothes when I walk to school. I also wanted to be able to loan them to my mom if she wanted to wear them with her grandkids outside on the weekends. They are thinner than most snowpants but just as warm because of the omni-heat. They don't leak. They're the best.
